When?: Every year on June 21.

Where?: All kinds of different places throughout Merryville. Including Starlight Studios, outside Merryview Acadamy and the Larson's house.

What?:
The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year at which the overhead sun is furthest from the equator. In Merryville everyone goes to bed two hours early the day before. They all set up tents in the yard of Merryview and go to bed. It is very hard to go to sleep though! There is so much excitment! After a very long night they wake up very early and watches the sun rise in the lawn of Merryview Acadamy. After that that they head over to the Larson's house for a HUGE breakfast packed with eggs from the Larson's own chickens. Also sausages and bacon. After that everyone heads over to Starlight Studios and tirelessly watch dancing programs by girls four and up. The girls started practicing in early April, practicing two times a week and hours more at home. All through the day there is many booths selling things like treats, stories published by grades four and down (Written just before school ends, it is their last assignment.) and all kinds of paper crafts and workshops for kids. At night the people head out to their tents with all of their many blankets and watch the sun go down. When the sun is gone they start a huge bonfire and stay up all night if they can! The little kids usually make it until midnight before falling asleep exhausted with their new toys and stuffed animals in their arms. The 18 inch girls usually camp out in Mia's large tent together and play card games and truth or dare. Finally people fall asleep in the late of night and Merryville falls silent. The next day everyone goes home to do their chores but they always end up falling asleep for a few hours. For weeks after the SS people talk about how wonderful it was. They can't wait to start planning the next year!
